At the present time some of the giants in my industry are actually not exporting paper because they don’t even have enough to cover our domestic needs. We are currently importing paper from Russia, unheard of before, but this is a reality. The old corrugated boxes that are being recycled in this country are finding their way into our recycling mills, and not leaving the country. All these facts are driving the price of corrugated up. For example, we had an increase in February of 14% in sheets that translated into a 10% increase in the price of boxes, another 12% increase in sheets that translate into an 8% to 10% increase in the price of boxes that will come into effect on May 24th. Still, the mills are looking to pass 1 or 2 more increases this year. What can we do to alleviate this situation? We need to consider different packaging alternative like: new designs, other alternative packaging products, new methods of packaging and shipping. We need to take a look at what you are currently doing and investigate new avenues that will help cut your current packaging cost. Here is where we come into play for you.
